Fillmore Construction started working with Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) in 1995. Over the last 20 years SDM has grown at an astronomical rate, completing ten to thirty major projects including new builds, tenant improvements and full renovations per year in Alberta alone. Fillmore Construction completes approximately 80% of these projects, totalling a value of $5M to $20M per year; most of these projects are tendered in a competitive market. Due to our extensive history with SDM, we are often exclusively called upon to complete projects in remote regions such as Whitehorse and Yellowknife. Additionally, we have been completing ongoing projects in SDM’s Calgary distribution warehouse for several years. Fillmore Construction has completed three extravagant Murale cosmetic stores on a direct award basis. In the twenty years we have worked with SDM we have completed over $250M in projects with them.
A typical Shoppers Drug Mart Tenant Improvement project must be ready for fixturing in no more than four to six weeks and is regularly open for business within three months of the construction start date. In twenty years we have never missed an opening date and will do whatever necessary to make sure that we never do.
To be ready for fixturing arrival in four to six weeks takes innovative construction techniques and approaches. We have refined the process to the point that we are rarely rivaled by our competitors on these projects. To date Fillmore Construction has completed over two hundred Tenant Improvements and Renovation projects for SDM at a current value of approximately $750,000 each.
